The VARK Questionnaire

I have done the VARK Questionnaire to find out what my preferable way of learning and my least favourite way. There are four different types of learning:
  1. Visual
  2. Aural
  3. Read/Write
  4. Kinesthetic
The questionnaire is multiple choice so my answer will depend on the most similar answers I give and how many of them there are, i.e the more V's scored means that someone is a visual learner.

For my own results I had a total of; two Vs circled, three As, zero Rs and eight Ks. As I have had more Ks this means that I am a kinesthetic learner and I prefer to learn by touching and doing, where my least favourite way of learning is reading and writing.

SWOT Analysis

In my SWOT results I have found out that I am an average worker and that I have a number of strengths and weakness in different learning skills.

In the results my study skills were mostly marked average, with a couple of lower points. For example I need to work on sticking to my learning goals and to also to write well-structured academic essays. In this section there were no points that I felt I was strong with but I did feel somewhat confident with them.

In the self-organisation skills section the results were rather varied. My strong point is that I feel that I am vert patient, my average point is that I can do different tasks at once. Unfortunately I can not manage my time or work to deadlines very well and I am not organised at all.

I feel comfortable working in a group and I can work with others to complete any work. My strong point is that I am supportive of other people's needs.

For the personal skills, I feel that I can make my own decision but it can take awhile until I have fully decided. I can also learn from my failures and accept criticism but sometimes I can let it get to me. I believe that I am a very good listener and that I can handle conflict well. My weakest aspects in this section is that I do not feel very confident about myself and that I am unaware of my own needs.

I think that my communication skills are quite good but of course they could still be better. I can present my ideas to others clearly and I can write clear and grammatical english. I can pick up non-verbal signals quite well and I am confident of doing presentations once I have a started it and gotten used to it.

My good points in the information management skills section are good, I can find information effectively depending on the sources I am using to find the information and I also think that I can use the internet effectively. My weak point is that I am not able to interpret and use graphical and statistical data very well.

For my own personal development I think that I need to put some work into finding out what my career goals are and to find out what my priorities are.

I think that I can evaluate my own performance but I think that I could do it with some more detail. I also understand why some strategies work and do not work for me.

Strengths
  • I am very patient.
  • I am a hard worker.
Weaknesses
  • I have a short attention span.
  • I do not have a lot of confidence.
  • I am unorganised.
  • I am bad at following deadlines and getting work done.
